FAQs About NDTC IPTV

Resetting your Set-Top Box (STB)
If you are experiencing any of the following issues, you may need to reset your STB:

  • Black screen but the info bar and guide can be seen
  • The TV picture is tiling or pixeling
  • TV is stuck on one channel
  • Channel(s) are missing or not working
  • Video & audio do not match up
  • Reset the STB:

    1. Unplug the black power cord located on the back of the STB or unplug it from the electrical power source and plug it back in.
    2. The Set-Top Box will cycle through the entire start-up process. This may take up to 10 minutes.
If resetting the STB did not resolve the issue, please call NDTC as a technician may need to be called.

Black Screen, Blue Screen or Snowy Screen
If you are experiencing any of the above issues follow the directions below:

    1. Make sure the TV is on channel 3 (either use channel buttons on the TV or use the TV remote that came with the TV & press 03). If the problem persists proceed to the next step.
    2. Make sure the Set-Top Box (STB) has green lights. If it has a red light, this indicated the STB is off. Press the "CBL" button located in the top-right corner of the remote; the green light will come back on and the TV picture will be restored. If the problem persists proceed to the next step.
    3. Check your TV input to make sure it is set on the correct input to receive the TV signal. (You will need the TV remote that came with the TV.)
Changing the Input on your TV varies depending on your brand of TV; please try the following:
    1. Using the remote that came with your TV, look for a button with one of the following names or something similar:
      • Input
      • AUX
      • Source
      • Component
      • TV/Video
    2. Press this button until your picture returns. Depending on your TV, it may cycle through available inputs or display a menu with a choice of inputs. The inputs often have names such as Video 1 and Video 2, HDMI 1 or Comp (Component).

Info/Guide/Menu do not show up on screen (5810 PVR issue)
This is most likely a resolution issue. Press the "RES" button located on the front of the STB until the info or guide show up. Note: There are 5 different resolution settings: 4803-SDTV; 4804 & 480P-not used; 720P & 1080-both for HDTV. Each time the "RES" button is pressed, the resolution number will flash on the STB in place of the time.

TV Screen is Stuck on 4 Bubbles during Reset Process
If you have a modem, you will need to unplug the modem and plug it back in. Once the modem lights are on, reset the STB again. Confirm the Cat5 cord (blue or gray cord that has an end that looks like a large phone jack) is connected in the back of the STB. If the problem persists, please call NDTC as a technician will need to be called.

    Remote not responding

    1. Change batteries (2-AA batteries are needed)
    2. Reset the Set-Top Box (STB):
      1. Unplug the black power cord located on the back of the STB or unplug it from the electrical power source and plug it back in.
      2. The Set-Top Box will cycle through the entire start-up process. This may take up to 10 minutes.
      3. If you have more than one TV, check the other remote to see if it will change the channels on the STB that is not responding. If that also does not work, then the box will probably have to be replaced. Please call NDTC.

    Check Activation Screen
This generally occurs if a customer was disconnected for Non Pay. Once the service is restored, you can arrow down to "Check Activation" and press "OK". The service should come back up.

One red light, one green light
This indicates the STB has been turned off. Turn the Set-Top Box on by pressing the "CBL" button located in the top-right corner of the remote.

    Only Receives a Few Channels
Press the "Guide" button to make sure the tab on the guide is on "All" instead of "PPV", "HD" or "Favorites".

How many hours of programming will my PVR record?
The total number of hours of recording will depend on the mix of standard definition and high definition programs you record. On average, you are able to record 80 hours of standard definition programming and 18 hours of high definition programming. To know how close the PVR hard drive is to reaching maximum capacity can be checked by pressing the "MENU" button on your remote, selecting PVR from the menu bar. The % stored is viewable in the center of the screen.

How do I turn on (or off) closed captioning?
Press the "FAV" button (located in the middle of the remote just below the "MUTE" button) to turn closed captioning on or off.

Uses for the USB Port on the Set-Top Box?
No applications are currently available for this port. The STB manufacturer is in the process of developing applications, however, no details or release dates have been announced. You will be notified of any upgrades to the STBs.
